Music Monday: “All is Not Lost” – OK Go

This is my favorite “Tiny Desk Concert” of all time – watch NPR move its Washington DC office cross town with OK Go in the back of a flatbed truck!

I can’t imagine how much time it took for OK Go and the folks over at NPR to put this performance together – apparently it took them 223 takes to make this video – but worth every moment in my opinion!

OK Go performs “All is Not Lost” from their 2010 release, “Of the Blue Colour of the Sky.”

Music Monday: “The Keeper” – Bonobo feat. Andreya Triana

If this song by Bonobo doesn’t move you, then you might be an android….or perhaps a human that’s been rendered completely void of feeling and emotion.

Of course I jest – everyone has their personal right to decide if they like a song or not – unless it’s this one. If you don’t like this, clearly you have terrible taste in music (see what I just did there?).

Enjoy the sultry sounds of Andreya Triana performing “The Keeper” live with Bonobo – from the 2010 album “Black Sands“.

Music Monday: “Orange Sky” – Alexi Murdoch

Here’s a tear-jerker by one of my favorite artists, Alexi Murdoch. I have a real soft spot for his music – so much so that I played one of his songs for the bride/groom dance at my wedding.

Hopefully this can treat your terrible case of the “Mondays” – enjoy!

Music Monday – “Ho Hey” – The Lumineers

Studies have shown any indie band that inserts “Ho!” or “Hey!” into their songs will meet almost instant success. Just look at what it’s done for Vampire Weekend and Of Monsters and Men. The Lumineers are no exception – and just to be sure, they threw in a mandolin to clinch it.

For your listening pleasure, the Denver based quintet performs the hit single “Ho Hey” from their 2012 self-titled début.

Thanks for listening – see you next Monday!

Music Monday – “Let’s Get You Pregnant” – PAPA the Band

This is a nice little tune by another Los Angeles band – don’t worry, the song isn’t nearly as graphic as the title suggests.

I found this via a Pinterest post by Elizabeth Banks – her favorite bands from the SXSW festival in Austin, Texas (as if she wasn’t already cool enough).

This is one of my favorites now – tell me what you think!

Music Monday: “Sun Hands” – Local Natives

Here’s an upbeat little number to get the week started. For those of you who aren’t familiar with the band – they’re from Silver Lake, CA (my old stomping grounds before moving to China).

“Got Snare?” would also be a fitting name for this song – wait until the 4:17 mark and you’ll see why.

This is from their 2010 début, “Gorilla Manor”.
